Working on my writing

In Escribiendo, Writing on febrero 5, 2009 at 8:24 pm

After racking my brains on such diverse issues as The Alhambra, Muslim History in Spain, various issues on dogs, Keynes and his liquidity trap or S&P’s Kingdom of Spain’s Rating downgrade, I realized that I was already into an endless loop and I had managed to arouse my teacher’s anger. No issue seems to suit the class so I decided to stop dithering and pick/choose the first thing that appeals to me/draws my attention.

That happened to be a celebrity/character not so famous as his boss. Who has aroused my curiosity not only because of his post/job but also because of his age. I hope you still have room for Obama-related matters. And…up to now I guess you all know who my “so famous” celebrity is.

He’s a 27 year-old guy (born June 6, 1981) who’s been named Director of Speechwriting in Obama’s Team/Cabinet.

I’ve always though that Presidents of the States had a number of experts with different backgrounds and ages to advise them when (they were) writing speeches, but I’ve always imagined them older than 27, experienced writers, journalists, historians and politicians or experts who have been working for many years.

Jonathan Favreau is his name, and he graduated from college 5 years ago (2003) – Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, Holly Cross, Worcester, Massachusetts. It took him the same number of years to be promoted to such a post.

Just after graduating, he started to work for John Kerry on the 2004 US Presidential Campaign. In the beginning, his work had nothing to do with writing.

He put together radio news audio files in order to keep senior staff up to date/informed about the latest news.

Favs says that while he was working there, a new speech writer was needed.
